Each of these courses is designed to meet the MCOLES requirement that all agency selected CPE must enhance law enforcement performance, professionalism, public and officer safety, and officer decision making; be pre-approved by the law enforcement agency head or their delegate; and has been registered/approved by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards.

Participants will learn recent developments in the psychology of extreme escalation. We will also focus on the mental preparation skills that can lead to effective intervention under stress. Skill based scenario training will be used to increase participants confidence in their ability to effectively intervene with those in extreme crisis.
Participants in this course will examine how emotional intelligence directly impacts performance, decision-making, interpersonal relationships, and mental health among first responders. Through interactive discussions, scenario-based learning, and self-assessment tools, students will develop practical strategies to improve leadership effectiveness, manage critical incident stress, strengthen team dynamics, and enhance communication with the public and peers.
The ability to recognize and effectively intervene with suicidal individuals is one of the most challenging aspects of crisis intervention. The course is designed to increase awareness of suicide, and equip participants with information and basic skills to respond to a person considering suicide. Discussions, demonstrations, and scenarios will be used to facilitate learning. This is an introductory level course.
Participants will learn to better manage stress and increase their potential for happiness, success, and even create a competitive advantage through the creation of Psychological Body Armor. This course contains facts and specific suggestions for actions to enhance personal resilience based upon the latest and most credible science.
